Abstract

In the fourth quarter of 2010, shipment volume of the Greater Chinese notebook PC industry lived up to expectations. Of the total notebook PC shipment, consumer models enjoyed bullish shipment in the fourth quarter, benefited by seasonal demand in Europe and the United States from October to November, 2010. In addition, contract manufacturers with commercial models constituting a major proportion of their shipments had better achievement rates due to strong performance of several of their key clients in the commercial markets. However, shipments of few contract manufacturers were still affected by several negative factors including instable demand in their target markets and severe snowstorms that hit Europe. Therefore, these manufacturers needed to adjust their inventory levels at distribution channels in December 2010.
